KIDU KIONDO
Kidu is a Kikuyu term meaning "something". This stylish everyday tote is a pioneer of the sustainable collection we started in Àzana. Kiondo is a traditional name meaning "basket bag" that is famous in Kenya, East Africa and other parts of the continent. It is worn by people from all walks of life.
This hand-woven bag is made from sisal with a sophisticated touch of macrame. Macrame is done by a brilliant local artist JoyceGrace who has a team of 4 ladies, and it takes a day to handcraft a bag. The Kidu Kiondo is 100% vegan friendly and handmade.
The Kidu Kiondo has been elegantly designed and crafted using sisal, cotton thread and canvas, giving the bag a unique style. Pop of colour is what Àzana is all about! So we created this multicoloured tote which is perfect any time of the year if you ask us! Our grandmothers and mothers used these bags for shopping at the market and carrying their belongings.
