OUR LUXURY BAG COLLECTION AT A GLANCE
MATERIALS & TECHNIQUES

SISAL WEAVING
The Kidu Kiondo, our first 100% Vegan-friendly tote, is crafted in a timeless basket shape for an effortless everyday summer mood; the stylish tote basket is handwoven from sisal by independent craftswomen in Kenya

ETHICALLY SOURCED LEATHER
Leather is an important material for our brand. We only focus on Cow Leather which we locally source in Kenya. The dyes used in the tanning process are Chrome Free and we only work with tanneries that have strict ethical sourcing policies

CROTCHET WEAVING
We partnered with a young talented craftswoman who solely crotchets our bags. She harmoniously works alongside our leather craftsmen/women in our workshop and together merge the leather and thread

BRASS HARDWARE
We have recently partnered with a skilful local brass artisan to create our striking brass bag fittings as part of our initiative to create our products fully made in Kenya

MACRAME
Topping off our luxury bags with a sophisticated touch of macrame. Macrame is done by a brilliant local artisan and her team of four ladies. This intricate handcrafting process typically takes a day

BEADWORK
Our collection features handcrafted beadwork, a technique that has lived for generations that we want to preserve. We partnered with an organisation of talented local artisans from Kibera to achieve this iconic piece
COW LEATHER NOT VEGAN LEATHER?
Leather has a long-standing cultural significance in many parts of Kenya hence is a way of celebrating this cultural heritage and honouring local traditions. The material is known for its durability and strength, making it ideal for bags that must withstand daily wear and tear. Regarding sustainability, natural material can be sourced sustainably and has a lower carbon footprint than many synthetic materials. Vegan leather is often touted as a more sustainable option, and the reality is that many types of vegan leather are made from synthetic materials that are not biodegradable. Kenya has a significant leather industry, and using locally sourced cow leather can help support local artisans and businesses. Cow leather has a unique texture and natural grain, giving bags a luxurious and timeless feel.
THE ALLURING AMARA
In 2019, she launched her first handbag collection, Claudia K. Claudia's exquisite collection comprised totes, duffels, wash bags and laptop bags. She built her way to the top. She was hiring local artisans, investing in state-of-the-art machinery, expanding workshop space, and buying materials in bulk. Her brand Claudia K was a huge success. After starting Àzana, Claudia felt it was time to fuse the brands identities; Claudia K and Àzana to create a capsule collection that embodies Àzana's mordernism alongside Claudia K's artistic touch.
REDEFINING AFRICAN LUXURY
Àzana takes pride in creating pieces encapsulating fashion, art, travel, culture and heritage. We want to redefine African luxury by working with the finest materials and fabrics, all locally sourced and made by talented craftsmen and women in Kenya.
BAG CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Each Àzana bag comes with a woven dust bag for protecting the bag. A QR code is hand-stitched inside the bag to ensure you can access bag care instructions wherever you go.
